Catching Up

I see I'm getting behind again on the daily posting....I am very quickly remembering the same struggle I had last year. It is really hard to take pictures in North Dakota in January! It's too darn cold to take outdoor pictures, and my daylight hours are very limited. So, I'll play catch up the next couple of days by posting more gymnastics pictures and some awards for Abby. Here's some of Meg.

Nightly Reading

Meg loves reading to Kate at night. It has been really cute to see the two of them have this nightly routine with each other. Kate gets so into the books. And Meg loves to sit in front of her and hold the book up like she is the teacher - so cute! I caught them sitting in Kate's bed and was thrilled to get these shots!

Another Season!

We are in full swing again with a new gymnastics season. All three girls are in gymnastics, but only Abby and Meg are at levels where they compete. Abby had a meet last week in Minneapolis. She is competing at a new level (Level 9) this year so we aren't really sure what to expect. But she did well and had some mini personal victories on every event. The weekend was a lot of fun as we were able to watch a University of Minnesota gymnastics meet. One of Abby's former teammates is on the team. It was so exciting for her to see a teammate competing at that level. I think she realized how all the hard work can pay off.
Gymnastics is a big part of our life. The travel gets tiring (and the meets are stressful for me!), but it definitely helps the winter go by quickly!

Rocco and Deuce

Caitlin has been one of my best friends since college. She has been there through so many different stages of my life. The good and bad, the highs and lows. You know.....one of those friends that really knows everything about you and still loves you unconditionally. I love that no matter what....she will tell me the truth (even though it may not always be what I want to hear!! :) ). She is funny, smart, talented and a fantastic mom. Her two sons are ADORABLE. We had so much fun spending the weekend with them. My girls just love these two boys and can't wait to see them again soon. Thanks for letting us invade your home, drink your wine and eat your Valentine's candy! :)

I Hear Ya Oprah!

Here are a couple of things on my mind this week:

Anyone else feel just like Oprah? I am so sick of thinking, talking, planning, dreaming, whatevering about my weight. I cannot even imagine being under a spotlight like her! I quit subscribing to her magazine a couple of years ago, but felt compelled to pick up the latest issue. I am hoping that it maybe gives me a little inspiration on my own "best life" plans!

I am currently reading "The Shack". I know, I know - probably one of the last people on earth who hasn't already read it. Wow. I don't even know what to say. I cannot even read one full chapter each night. There is so much to think about! I wish I would have read it with a book club so I had people to discuss it with!

January 4 - the Game of Life

My girls are really into playing games lately. Meg got LIFE for Christmas and has been begging to play it. So Brian finally sat down today and read through the directions. Wow - there sure is a lot to this game!

January 3 - More Snow!

We have had a ton of snow this year. I've lost track of the totals. But everytime I drive by my poor adirondack chairs I am reminded of the warmth and sunshine of summer. Oh how I miss it! These pictures are for my friends living in warmer climates (like Phoenix!) who I know secretly miss all the snow and cold! NOT!

January 2 - Meg's Birthday

Okay, okay. So I'm cheating a little bit. I didn't really take these on January 2nd (Meg's birthday was on December 29) but I wanted to make sure that I got them blogged! Meg hd a great birthday with her friends. They went to see Tales of Despereaux and then came back to our house to play and have cake and ice cream. Hard to believe that she is 10 years old! And she is pretty pumped to be in those double digits!

New Year! Resolutions? - January 1

Well, I have made a "resolution" to keep this blog updated and try to post daily. I didn't really realize that there are so many friends and family who actually check in from time to time to see how and what we are doing. So - here it goes!

We spent New Year's Eve and New Year's Day at my parent's lake home near Bemidji. It was a nice, relaxing get-away. We have had a ton of snow up here so far so it was fun for the girls to go sledding and then play in the snow. Grandpa even dug them a snow tunnel!
