Abby's Trumpet

Abby had her last band concert of the year tonight. I thought I'd try something other than the typical band concert shot. So, after the concert (in a light rain) we went to a little park area with a gazebo and took a few shots. I am trying to do more shots that include more of the environment - not always close-ups. Not really sure I like the ones I got, but it's a start.

I really love the ones where you played with the dof and focused on the trumpet. I love how you can see you!

Love that 3rd shot. You've got some really creative poses here, and some serious DOF going on. Nice work.

I love the DOF in the third and fourth and the way the patriotic bench is reflected in the trumpet. It's also fun to see a teenage girl who plays something other than the flute.

Ah yes...the trumpet! I play french horn and trumpet, so I have a connection to these. I think they are great, love the focus on the bell.

These are just so amazing. I love the flow of the photos, the curves of the instrument. The last one is my favorite.

Love the last three. Like how you played with depth of field (oh yeah, i'm down with the lingo! ha!). An edgy look to playing an instrument. Very cool. Love the last shot. Reminds me of New Orleans street musicians or something. Wonder how that would look later in the evening with Abby silhouetted against the glowing lamp light? Lame idea? IDK!

These are so cute, I love the DOF. That bench is so awesome too. The last one is my fave though. I just love the way she is leaning back.

These are wonderful! I love the one with her stretched out on the bench; it really adds interest to the trumpet/band shot. Your 4th photo down is really cool, with the reflection of the bench red/white/blue in the trumpet. Makes me convinced she's playing something very patriotic sounding!
