January 30
There is nothing cooler than listening to your kids start to read books to themselves for the first time. Kate sat in her room tonight reading "Jamberry". Initially I tried to take photos of her doing a headstand (which she practiced tonight at gymnastics). They were disastrous photos! So I'm trying to follow the vertical/horizontal theme by showing this scene two different ways!

I can't wait for this moment in time with my kiddos. It gives me chills.
It's a complete change in their world when they learn to read, isn't it? Great colors here!
Oh I really do like the verical shot; you have filled the view perfectly, and event though her whole reading posture shows more in the horizontal, this one focuses more on the intensity and concentration of your daughter. Is is as though you were not there at all. Fabulous! ML
Sweet captures!
I agree, it is so wonderful to see kids start to read. It opens up a whole new world for them. I really like the vertical shot, can almost hear her reading to us!
What a sweet memory to have captured. I had forgotten about the book Jamberry until you just mentioned it. My oldest used to LOVE that book.
What a great memory. I love when they first start to read. Great focus
Yeah for her!! That shirt is too cute!!
Your colors always look so vibrant, and I love the facial expressions you catch! You can almost see her mouth moving in the second one, reading out loud!
Love the every day captures!
I have to agree. Watching your kids succeed at that must be wonderful. I can't wait. Reading is so important...and it will effect them so much as they get older. ITS HUGE, really, when you think of it. Definitely a good thing to capture.
What a great moment to capture. It is sweet to watch your children love books. How wonderful! All your photos look great, Debbi. You are rockin' the camera ;-)
